2: Traditional and Contemporary Assessment Models

Application Activity

Ask each student to contact a local school system, hospital, or health care provider to find out the following:

  1. Which instruments are routinely used for screening and diagnostic purposes with young children?

  2. What criteria were employed when selecting these tools?

  3. Which tools, if any, are used as program-relevant assessments to design educational or intervention programs?

  4. How are the results summarized and shared with family members?

Ask students to prepare a one-page outline to share with the class.
