Student Activities

A parent in your classroom discloses to you that her son has HIV and is asymptomatic. She also discloses that she did not report this on the school records because she was fearful that her child would not be allowed to return to school. Should you suggest to the mother that she disclose the information about her son? Why or why not? What would be your reasons for wanting her to disclose or not disclose the information? How could you reassure this parent that the school cannot withhold services from her son? Last, what precautions would you take or not take in the classroom?
